West LA Cycling Club is a bicycle club with mostly single cyclists and on their site they explicitly advertise their riders to the female ridership: "attractive, healthy, friendly guys who want to meet you."

The use of cycling as a social mechanism, for dating, acquaintance, or for putting an end to friendlessness in general, is fed by the intense social significance of this mode of transport, where loneliness and community alternate (see Organized Bike Rides).
