I wish we had a map capability in the wiki edit menu - can anyone help?

Gas Station Event Text

Here is the text from Gas Station Event article which I deleted. You can find the reason for it's deletion in the deletion log

Very busy gas station: Compare Costco Washington Blvd & Lincoln

Bikes queuing in pairs in line with cars.

When your turn, rest your bikes on stand and insert card in dispenser. Release nozzle and look for tank opening on bike. Complain to attendant that pump does not fit your bike. Take your time. Consult a manual. Read instructions. Let them come.

How many cyclist:

Double the number of pumps, Plus a number of sympathetic car drivers queuing just behind bikes

Deal with aggression:

A few cars in the line are disguised cyclists who assist to diffuse the situation. Ask angry drivers for advice. To better deal with aggression a good number of young girls and old ladies on bikes would be great. Distribute flyer

Press in attendance.

One of the vehicles waiting with the cyclists carries press professionals with TV camera and microphone who proceed to interview angry gas station attendants and waiting clients. Sound engineer in attendance.

Network logo on gear is "BIKE TV"

Dialogue Fragments:

There is something wrong with your nozzle, it does not fit

Manager, can you help me here, I cannot open my tank, I cannot find the tank.

I want to speak with the manager. I too. Where is the supervisor.

Bikes too have the right to buy gas. This is a free country.

Look, I am on Empty. I neeeeeed gas.

But if it does not have a motor, how the fuck does it drive?

Everybody has a gas tank, there must be a gas tank somewhere on this bike too.

I am sure I saw it yesterday

Q How to deal with: Leave the Premises: - Legal advice

Q How to deal with: Lack of Costco Card. Do not forget to retrieve Credit Card.

Consider information on credit cards may be stored

Requirement: Bike with well working stand only (test)

Requirement: Fit all bikes with image of gas indicator on empty

Attention: Do not spill gas

Disreputable Cyclist

I deleted this article. It violates both the "Not a blog" policy and the "denotation of opinion policy", which you can find at ibikeu Wiki:Policies. I will also be substantially revising the article you wrote on the Exposition Bike Path because you are using the ibikeu Wiki, a wiki for documenting bike knowledge, as a planning document. Please familiarize yourself with these policies, as you are violating them regularly.

Here is the content of the Disreputable Cyclist article before it's deletion, for your personal use:

This is a attempt to think about an important problem. It has previously suffered deletion (censorship?) by Percival Cornelius with the advice "get a blog". But why turn a blind eye at the discursive construction of disreputable cycling?

All good causes seem to suffer from this problem: The organic farmer who brings organic farming into disrepute by cutting a corner, the protester whose violent methods discredit his cause, the photographer who enhances his photos and thereby brings shame to the entire profession. The cyclist who does not stop at the stop sign and thereby besmirches cycling "as such" is another case of this discursive construction. It may sound convicing to some, but more likely it is just shoddy thinking. Ever heard of the bank robber who brought shame on car driving when he used a car to remove the goods?

One popular example of disreputable cycling is Critical Mass. But any cyclist who has his own way with the stop sign finds himself in the middle of a battlefield on which wars are waged about what cycling is or should be. Is it law-abiding? Is it unregulated? Is it self-regulated? Is it free? Is there only one kind of cycling, are are there many ways of cycling?

With The Scofflaw Cyclist straw man in place, car driving people have a target for the frustration they feel over the situation THEY have created, but for which they are completely unable to accept the blame. Cyclist Blames Self: Film at 11

Hugh rightly calls the theory that stop sign running cyclists increase the degree of motorist mis-deads towards cyclists, or somehow do harm to the cause of cycling, a trope, a habitual way of speaking, which will not stand the test of reflection.

Therefore I propose: To call some cycling disreputable is part of an attempt to define what proper cycling is. And how do we resolve that?

We cycle for many different reasons, and there may be some among us who get on the pedals in order to preserve the reputation of cycling, and therefore ride to stop at all stopsigns. I would call them extremists, plotting to own the whole of cycling.

Consider also: Section 3.12.570 of the Santa Monice Code which defines Reckless cycling: Any person operating a bicycle in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of reckless cycling. (Prior code ยง 3350.1; added by Ord. No. 665CCS, adopted 12/8/64)
