Unemployed
From ibikeu Wiki
"Unemployed" is an adjective used to describe a person who is not engaged in any gainful occupation and who does no productive work. The word can also be used indiscriminately to describe avid participants in the urban social bicycle riding subculture, as the chance that it will in fact apply to any given such person is substantially greater than fifty per cent.
Urban social bicycle riders often devote a great deal of time and effort to becoming and remaining unemployed. Indeed, it has been noted by outside observers that they sometimes work harder at maintaining their unemployment than people outside the subculture do at getting and keeping their jobs.
Occasionally, and usually by accident, urban social bicycle riders lapse into brief episodes of employment. These brushes with productivity generally occur in the more dank sectors of the service economy; jobs at coffeehouses, vegan restaurants, bicycle shops, and graphic design firms are the sort with which urban social bicycle riders most often find themselves temporarily encumbered. Once burdened in this manner, it becomes the immediate goal of the urban social bicycle rider to reattain his or her status as one of the unemployed. Almost invariably the rider accomplishes this by spending most working hours on the Internet, posting cat macros and pop music reviews to web forums devoted to urban cycling.
It has long been rumored within the scene that some of its members drift into employment from time to time as bicycle messengers. Many riders discount this as an urban legend, and some have pointed out that employment in this field is substantively indistinguishable from unemployment anyway.
