Google

I believe for proper wiki mapping (google API) it needs a Wikimedia. Is this something you can enable?

alternatively, perhaps one can operate an external link to a different WikiMedia enabled site

I'll put it into our list of upgrades to look into. I believe you mean MediaWiki. BTW, can you try to use subject headings when you add a new topic to a talk page. The best way to add a topic is by clicking the "+" next to edit on the discussion page. Alex 10:54, 18 April 2008 (PDT)

MediaWiki

I really think the mediawiki plug-in (if it is that) would be a great and urgent project. The Google maps feature is a killer. It would allow map based communication with authorities about condition of bike paths, it could communicate paths and shortcuts, it can serve as a bike buddy platform, all on the basis of the amazing features of google maps (my maps). The more I think of it, the more it seems patently absurd to entertain a web based bike-related service WITHOUT such features.

The other mapping platforms are strictly simple path related, but there is much more to bicycle geography than a A-B path
