Talk:Contact Information for Public Officials in the Los Angeles Metro Area

Are all the article links to each person really necessary? SPOOK 16:14, 2 June 2008 (PDT)
- I don't get your question? This page is meant to list contact info for various public officials in one place. Isn't a webpage a basic point of contact? Alex 22:49, 2 June 2008 (PDT)
- What I was trying to ask was why does each individual person in this article need their own article? Can't we just post people's contact info within this article and give individuals their own article when/if the need arises? SPOOK 13:45, 3 June 2008 (PDT)
- You mean the links for articles on LA City Councilpersons? A city council person in LA, on average, has nearly 300,000 constituents, generally a staff of between 10 and 20 people, and they control a huge budget. Each one is politically equivalent to like 20 Santa Monica council persons. They're all gonna need their own articles, sooner rather than later. Alex 13:57, 3 June 2008 (PDT)
- Like you've said in the past, how is this relevant to cycling? Are all these people somehow involved, in any way, with bicycle-related matters that affect us, or that we would need information about? SPOOK 01:10, 5 June 2008 (PDT)
- Councilman Reyes has moved to reorganize the LA Bicycle Advisory Committee - the committee which advises the LA City Council on bicycle matters. Rosendahl is heavily involved with the efforts by residents near the Ballona Creek bike path to close gates to the path. Garcetti has been supportive of bike projects. Parks has not so much. LaBonge rode to and from some of the Bike to Work day events. He also was the main councilmember involved with the dispute over cyclist access to the Griffith Observatory.
- It's a pretty crazy question "Are all these people somehow involved, in any way, with bicycle-related matters that affect us, or that we would need information about?" The answer is a deafening YES! These people control millions of dollars for bicycle spending and the agencies that supervise bicycle infrastructure construction, planning, and maintenance. Any significant enough politician who has a role in transportation policy and has a position on cycling is worth documenting here. (I THINK) Alex 01:20, 5 June 2008 (PDT)
- Okay, why haven't you added that knowledge to their respective articles? SPOOK 11:00, 5 June 2008 (PDT)
