Madison is the capital of the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Dane County. It is also home to the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The 2006 population estimate of Madison was 223,389. According to the website Bicycle Friendly Community, Madison is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the United States.
Madison is very active biker community. It has a large number of bicycle shops, including a volunteer-run community bicycle shop called Freewheel. Madison also has a vibrant bike polo community, associated with the Mad Bike Polo website, which is an active bike polo forum for bike polo groups in the US Midwest and beyond.
