Ibikeu Wiki:Policies
From ibikeu Wiki
ibikeu Wiki is a place to document all things cycling related. It can serve as a place to document current events and ancient history. It can be used as a place to document general knowledge, or specific local bike culture. The founders hope that someday it will be a great resource for cycling knowledge.

Assumption of good faith
Editors should assume, initially, that others are contributing to the wiki with a positive intent. To start by assuming ill intent when someone harms the wiki isn't only paranoid, it's irrational. What reason can they have to behave disruptively? Assume good faith, until there is reason to think otherwise. Please see Wikipedia's article about the assumption of good faith.
Do Not Bite the Noobs
When new editors run wild and mess things up, remember that they probably don't realize the trouble they're causing, and teach them patiently about ibikeu Wiki's policies and culture. We have many customs and you broke them left and right when you started editing too. Teach the new editors about signing comments and wikification, and value their content contributions, and they're more likely to stick around and become consistent contributors. We stole this rule from Wikipedia, so please check out Wikipedia's article about the "Don't Bite" policy.
Not a blog
The ibikeu Wiki is not a soapbox for expressing your opinions.
Denotation of opinion
Where relevant opinions are summarized in articles they should be clearly denoted as opinion.
Do Not Disrupt ibikeu Wiki to Illustrate a Point
Self explanatory. Do not wreak havoc on the wiki because other editors did not side with you during a dispute.
FUN
The most important rule of ibikeu Wiki is to have FUN. It's important to make ibikeu Wiki awesome, and ensure that people follow the policies, but if ibikeu Wiki is not fun then you probably should relax and take a break.
HTML vs Wiki
Where possible, mediawiki markup should be used instead of HTML.
Bike Neutral Point of View
Neutral point of view is a fundamental Wikimedia principle and a cornerstone of Wikipedia. Here at ibikeu we have the bike neutral point of view. Whereas "all Wikipedia articles and other encyclopedic content must be written from a neutral point of view (NPOV), representing fairly, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views that have been published by reliable sources." at ibikeu Wiki we ask that "all ibikeu Wiki articles should be written from a bike neutral point of view (BNPOV), representing fairly, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views of cyclists."
Check out the article on Wikipedia about NPOV. What is the BNPOV?
Not a planning document
ibikeu Wiki is not a planning document. It should not be used to coordinate actions or post information on people's plans, unless these are relevant in a documentary sense.
Privacy
Sometimes information will make it's way to ibikeu Wiki which is private information about a person. Editors should remove that information if it is not publicly known. However, if it is publicly known and relevant, then this information is not private and should remain on the wiki.
