Friends of the Friendless (FotF) is a semi-regular theme of the urban hustle ride CubCamp. The first Friends of the Friendless took place the night of Thanksgiving 2007. The ride travels about West LA with the intention of finding lone cyclists. Once a lone cyclist, "the friendless", is located the riders, the "friends", turn to ride with the rider, chanting "ONE OF US! ONE OF US!". The riders then converse with them, offer them beer, and they're invited to join the ride. Otherwise, Cub Camp provides them escort to their chosen destination.

"Friends! How many of us have them?" In this rare case, our friend in the blue shirt chose to join us

Outcome

FotF's success varies. Shockingly, solo cyclists being chased by another group of cyclists will have different responses. Most often friendless react by engaging in conversation and continuing to their original destination with Cub Camp escorting. In some cases cyclists have joined the ride for the duration, and in one case the ride ended up partying at Chet's house. In other cases cyclists appeared to try to elude the strong riders of Cub Camp. Language barriers have also been an issue, as hardly in Cubs speak Spanish and many friendless have been Spanish speaking only.

Previous Rides

There have been four FotF rides thus far.
