Chrome is a San Francisco-based manufacturer of urban cycling gear, primarily messenger bags. Chrome messenger bags are made in the United States and can be purchased online, at local bike shops, and from Chrome's storefront location in San Francisco. The bags are made with capacities ranging from 1000 square inches (the Mini.Metro, suitable for short trips) to 3000 square inches (the Kremlin, designed for professional messengers or people who carry extremely large loads on their backs). Chrome messenger bags usually have a Cordura outer shell, and can be distinguished by a horizontal vinyl stripe at the bottom of the main flap and by the automotive seat belt buckle on the front of the shoulder strap. The buckle is provided to make it easier for the wearer to put on and take off a fully-laden bag; however, it is not unheard of for clueless bystanders or mischievous friends to press the brightly-colored button, causing the buckle to release and the bag and its contents to crash to the floor.
