C.R.A.N.K. MOB, aka the CRAzy Naptime Killers, or any other acronym which spells CRANK in a fun way, is a West LA ride originally conceived as a ride to compliment Santa Monica Critical Mass and to incorporate new super F.U.N. elements of existing small rides into a large ride. Testimonials
C.R.AnK Mob is best described by a deluge of testimonials consumed in tandem with mass quantities of Tecate. Kieron describes the ride as:
"a monthly bike ride dance party masquerade carnival sextravaganza. we meet on the first saturday after the third friday of each month at the big red brick building on sawtelle blvd and la grange ave in west la. at 10:00pm we ride into the night and our intergalactic roving bike dance party takes the streets of west la, mar vista, palms, westwood, century city, culver city and venice. like other bike rides, c.r.a.n.k. mob is a theme ride: anything goes. whatever you want the theme to be, that's what it is. like a tempest on the horizon, you can hear us approaching as you see our blinking bicycle lights in the distance. the hooting and hollering and the beat of the music seduces your psyche and as the outlaw bicycle party passes you by. it is at that moment that you finally understand: your life shall have no meaning until you join the mob!
Marcus McKenzie, C.R.A.N.K. Mob nutjob, wrote this description after he claimed to have missed the ride (he did not), relating a dream about the ride:
an iridescient bicycle, 40 feet tall and 200 people long, paraded into and over all of the king's land! it made a constant whinny-sound, like a finely-tuned mechanical unicorn, or a pirate ship made out of music boxes! i was dancing in my sleep! the bicycle would run over anything in its path, and turn it into a glittery dust blowing and blanketing the wind! even some meanies in blue were hit and they blew away into the wind making blue and red whistles! poof! wherever the parade went, the wheels were spinning in a way that made time reverse and proceed like the way a dj scratched a record! not limited by time, sound, speed, gravity, or physics in general, the parade rolled on! this immunity to reality allowed the parade to continue indefinitely, all over the westside, and i think the next time i sleep the parade will still be going! oh, and some of you were even there! riding the bicycle! even franz! whats really weird is that the bicycle said crank mob all over the frame! its so freudian! sheesh!
Eric Colton had only this to say about his time in the Mob:
