Bicycle Street Theatre integrates Street Theatre and public protest. It can also be considered a genre of Happening.
Examples are multiple coordinated events that can draw a lot of attention and may produce mental discomfort or moments of cognition for motorised transport participants. Here are some potential variants:
-- Die-In on the intersection (temporary cemetery, cyclists with bike) (great media potential)
-- Outlines of traffic victims and position of vehicle on the asphalt in yellow oily chalk.
-- Circles of Death can be performed on an intersection or a roundabout (eg Windward Circle) blocking north/south and east/west traffic from proceeding.
-- Gas Station Event. Bonus performances for buyers of gas
In congested traffic conditions the bicycle has great potential of evasive action. On flat surfaces it can be quick as a car, it overcomes curbstones and steps like a pedestrian, and it can squeeze through openings no motorcycle can enter
Theatrical bicycle performances have been imagined in many places all over Los Angeles. Group rides are often perceived as participatory art events in which the urban environment is radically re-modelled
