Bag for drag
From ibikeu Wiki
The term bag for drag has it's origins in CubCamp, coined by Richie Thomassen to describe the effect of holding a bag, often with groceries, while riding. Homeless and poverty stricken individuals will also sometimes use disposable bags on bikes to carry personal belongings
The most common place to spot a cyclist carrying a bag for drag is on the sidewalk moving in the opposite direction of traffic. Usually riding at slow speed on a beaten down mountain bike with wide knobby tires.
The Origin
The instance which inspired the creation of this saying is notable due to the uncommon occurrence of bag for drag riding. During a fast paced CubCamp ride, a man dressed in casual clothes, carrying a bag for drag, came flying by at high speed on a vintage, well maintained road bike, behaving as a vehicular cyclist. Richie and GarySe7en picked up their pace to ride side by side with the man. Seeing this, the man proceeded to increase his own pace, and a sporting race without saying a word ensued. After a couple blocks it became apparent that the rest of the CubCamp riders were being dropped, so Richie and Gary left him on his way, amazed by his bag for drag prowess.
